## What this site is

An independent 3D printing guide written for one reader: somebody buying their
first printer, or somebody who has just unboxed one and cannot get the first
layer to stick. The editorial position is "answer, do not argue" — one
recommendation per situation plus a runner-up, the tradeoff named, and an
explicit "skip this one" on every product.

## How this site is funded

Affiliate commission on purchases made through its links, at no extra cost to
the reader. Amazon is currently the only retailer; the site participates in the
Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Commission never determines a pick or
its position, and no manufacturer pays for placement or sees a page before it
publishes.

## What this site does NOT claim

The site has NOT tested the machines it recommends, and says so on every page
that recommends one. There is no laboratory, no owned printers and no review
units. What it does instead: reads each manufacturer's own published
specification page and cites every figure with the date it was read; computes
running costs from published wattage and a cited electricity rate with the
arithmetic shown; and takes prices from a live data layer rather than from the
text. Where a figure cannot be verified, the site says so rather than supplying
one. Where no live price exists, the page shows "check price" and no number.
The author holds no credentials and none are claimed.

- Best first 3D printer overall: Bambu Lab A1 mini. It automates bed leveling,
  Z-offset and flow calibration — the three steps that historically caused most
  first-month failures. Tradeoff: a 180 x 180 x 180 mm build volume.
- Best if more room is needed: Bambu Lab A1 (256 mm cubed, 100 C plate).
- Cheapest worth recommending: Creality Ender-3 V3 SE, which has automatic bed
  leveling and an automatic Z-offset, and needs assembling.
- Best first filament: PLA, any mainstream 1 kg spool.
- Resin is recommended only for tabletop miniatures, and only alongside the full
  gloves / ventilation / alcohol wash / UV cure routine.
